Editorial requirements

No blog content

• No content formatted as blog posts
• Example: “My Journey Starting a Business – Day 10”

No bylines

• No author bylines at the beginning of releases
• Example prohibited: “By John Smith, Chief Technology Officer”

No profile building

• Press releases must come from companies, not individuals. No content primarily intended to build personal profiles.
• Example: “John Smith: The Visionary Entrepreneur Changing the Industry”

No individual representation

• No releases on behalf of individuals without descriptors
• Example prohibited: “John Smith Announces New Project”
• Example permitted: “John Smith, CEO of ABC Company, Announces New Project”

Ticker spamming

• No excessive use of stock ticker symbols
• Example: “$AAPL $MSFT $GOOGL $AMZN all facing competition from our new product”

Language restrictions

Vulgar language

• Permitted only if:
  • The term is part of a marketing campaign, tradeshow, or product
  • Most letters are censored (e.g., “Bull***t”)
  • Not used in headline or subheadline
  • Limited to 3 mentions maximum
• Example acceptable use: “The ‘Wild as F***’ marketing campaign launches today”

Pornography/illegal drugs

• No promotion or mention of pornographic content or illegal substances
• Exception: Medical marijuana and therapeutic psilocybin content is permitted where legal
• Example prohibited: “New Website Offers Adult Content Subscriptions”
• Example permitted: “Medical Cannabis Clinic Opens in California”

Miscellaneous notes

• Yahoo will block press releases from third-party law firms about class action lawsuits on public companies.

No product reviews

• Example: “My review of XYZ Smartphone”

No unauthorized co-branding

• Mentioning another company, person, or brand without permission
• Example: “ABC Company Partners with Nike” (when no official partnership exists)

No mentions of press release distribution

• Example: “Guaranteed press release placements on Yahoo News”

No promotional content

• Overtly promotional material lacking substantive news value
• Example: “The Best Product You’ll Ever Buy – Limited Time 50% Off!”

No top 10 lists

• “Top 10” references in headlines or sub-headlines
• Example: “Top 10 Weight Loss Supplements of 2023”

No advertisements

• Content primarily intended to sell products without newsworthy information
• Example: “Summer Sale – Everything Must Go! Shop Now!”

No unattributed content

• Claims, statistics, or research without proper sources
• Example: “Studies show 95% of people prefer our product” (without citing a study or link)

No libelous or inflammatory content

• False statements that damage reputation or incite conflict
• Example: “Competitor X Cheats Customers with Fraudulent Practices”

No investment opinions (IO)

• Buy/sell recommendations for securities
• Example: “Now is the Time to Buy XYZ Stock Before It Skyrockets”

Once content has been published through our services, no retractions will be issued for any reason. Users acknowledge and agree that they are solely responsible for ensuring the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of all content prior to submission. We do not offer retractions, corrections, or removals of distributed content regardless of circumstances, including factual errors, changes in business circumstances, or any other reasons.
